First of all make sure that you read on the choices of surgeries if you haven't talked to your vet on that yet. I am still worried that maybe the complete hip surgery may have been the way to go for him instead of the fho surgery. He is out of pain which was my goal of course and it will never come back so I am told. But, he has such a swish still when he walks and pretty clumsy still. I know it is early yet and hopefullly these things will still take care of themselves with time and muscle growth. Just something to think about if you have a larger dog like I do. Hi guys. My 4 month old Leonidas just got FHO surgery on both hips. My vet said he's expected to make a full recovery in 8 weeks. My family and I don't think this is very plausible because he's in terrible shape. The surgery took place this past Monday. He can hardly move and his legs look worse than before, especially his right leg. That leg goes sideways whenever we take him out and it almost looks as if it is broken. Sidney's FHO Journey, update

Today we took Sidney back to Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Kearney Mesa for his 2-week post surgery appointment and to have his sutures taken out. His fur is already growing back, so it was a bit of a challenge for the tech to find all the sutures! Sidney was really good and didn't complain about that. However, when the vet tried to show us how to extend his leg back, Sidney reacted badly to that! I said it looked like that hurt, but the vet said it was more behavioral. Surgery Day

Today Sidney is having his FHO surgery to relieve the pain from his luxated hip joint caused by hip dysplasia. It was a tearful goodbye this morning, but I know he is in excellent hands. They will call me later this afternoon, and I should be able to bring him home tomorrow. Thank you all for your messages of encouragement, well wishes and prayers.
