Drugstore skin care routine for combination/oily skin? | Your ...
I’m looking for a new skin care routine for my combination/oily skin. I don’t have acne, just the occasional pimple, so I don’t need an acne system. If you know of any that work well without drying out your skin, that would be appreciated! I would use neutrogena gel cleansers. Gels are the gentlest on your skin and I have found that neutrogena is the best drugstore brand for me. I get a few pimples on my forehead now and then and I have an oily T-zone, but my cheeks get really dry. Their basic gel cleanser (I actually like the grapefruit one. Its the same, just smells better) has [more...]

Does anyone know of any good face products for acne? |
STEP 4 (required): Moisturize Face. Try Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture SPF 15. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion SPF 15 contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid! Or try Lily Of The Desert Aloe Vera Gelly, its 99% organic, contains vitamin A, C, E! Don’t use other brands of aloe, has very little aloe & to much junk in it which can irritate skin! Aloe vera is gentle, helps renew skin cells, heals blemishes/scars. STEP 5 (optional): Apply Makeup. Try Revlon ColorStay Combination/Oily Skin SPF 6 Foundation. Using a Makeup Setting Spray (Skindinavia, Model In A Bottle, Urban Decay, Sephora) will give you [more...]

Drink Up: Why Oily Skin Needs Moisturizer (and What Kind)
Skin needs a balance of two things: adequate sebum and water. Oily skin has lots of sebum. But it doesn’t mean it has lots of water. If it’s looking dull and tired, chances are it needs water. If it feels a little slack, chances are it needs water. If you’re exfoliating regularly, chances are it needs water. If it’s feeling dry and tight even though it doesn’t look it, it definitely needs water. (I had a bridal client who had this problem — oily skin, but always dry and uncomfortable. She was using rich creams for dry skin which were making her skin more oily, and causing [more...]

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good tinted moisturizer that is not too expensive? thanks! These are both "foundations" but they really have the coverage of a tinted moisturizer. - Maybelline Pure Makeup. It’s made of 50% water so it won’t make you oily. It’s very light. - Almay Pure Blends. Again, the coverage is quite light. It is made of natural ingredients so if you have sensitive skin it may cause irritation. Other than that, it’s great. - You may need a concealer as well for extra coverage on blemishes. Apply it after your tinted moisturizer. Neutrogena and Almay [more...]

Six things to know about our Asian skin | Viva Woman
Since my last entry about Asian skin being less prone to getting sunburn, I’ve found more information about Asian skin type that might interest some of you. Keen to find out? Here goes: 1. Asian skin is more prone to sensitivity Our skin is said to be prone to irritation as we have a thinner stratum corneum or the outermost layer of skin, compared to other ethnic groups. As a result, our skin becomes extremely sensitive to environmental factors and chemicals, which can disrupt the skin’s pH balance (source: Dr Anthony Rawlings). This means: we need to be careful with what products and [more...]
