What is a good eczema lotion for a baby with really dry skin, not ...
I discovered this Goats Milk Moisturising Cream about a year ago; prior to that, I was using the steroid cream from my GP twice a day just to get some relief from the itching on my shins and ribs. Now I slather this on every day after showering and have not had to use the steroid cream for several months. This cream works – on days when I am in a tearing hurry and skip using it, I really know about it by bedtime when I am itching and on fire again. It really is brilliant – I have recommended it to friends with eczema and psoriasis and all have reported significant improvement in their [more...]

11 Causes of Dry Skin Problems
A dry skin problem can be uncomfortable and even maddening. Your skin might feel tight and painful; it might look dull or red or flaky. Worst of all is the itchiness -- the sort of overwhelming itchiness that makes you feel like you're infested with fleas, that keeps you awake at night, miserably raking your skin with a back scratcher. "Dry skin is extremely common," says Barney Kenet, MD, a dermatologist from New York Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical Center. "There are probably close to 100 million dried out, itchy people in this country right now." And if the itching [more...]

Treating Sore, Dry Chapped Hands
Lastly, and perhaps most important of all, do not scratch patches of dry skin - no matter how itchy it feels. Scratching may bring some instant relief, but the itchiness will soon return, prompting yet more scratching. This itch-scratch-itch cycle will likely result in additional damage to the epidermis. With just a little care and attention you will soon find that chapped hands are as distant a memory as the sunshine of last summer. Peter Friswell has been involved in the skincare industry for 20 years and has amassed a wealth of practical and helpful information on skincare. He is the owner [more...]

My cats skin has a bump. What could this be? - - Questions ...
My 7 year old 4 pound Chihuahua is suffering from incredibly flaky dry skin. He now has bald patches all over his body, and looks absolutely horrible (so bad that people are afraid to touch him). Due to stress from post surgery (surgery in Dec, skin issues since mid Feb) complications, I believe my dogs immune system has been affected, and he is unable to control his allergy to somethings/or things anymore. THE ITCHY DOG: IS IT AN ALLERGY?
Scratching is a very common symptom in dogs, and you as an owner should aim to nip it in the bud early before self trauma causes secondary injuries to your dog. Beauty Verdict: Tips on dealing with dry, itchy allergy prone skin ...
When I first got this - it begun as one super itchy roundish patch. BV is a long time fan of home diagnosis (not recommended btw) and I thought it was ringworm. (SO humiliating!) I put tinea cream on it and it just got more red, more itchy and quite frankly, unbearable. Like so many bad things in the world - it spread and I ended up with a lot of spots all over my body. I finally went to a doctor who told me I had psoriasis. I accepted this diagnosis (after many tearful nights guys!) and started seeing a naturopath. I learned quite a few good tips about how to deal with psoriasis - but ended [more...]

best dry dog food boxers – The Itchy Dog: is it an Allergy?
However, definitive diagnosis can be achieved via a panel of injections into a patch of skin, or blood tests. Neither of these are particularly effective and generally not performed unless the owner is prepared to attempt a desensitization programme. This involves a long term course of injections given by your vet on, say, a monthly basis to desensitize your dog to the offending allergen, and so make the allergic reaction much smaller when he/she does come into contact with it. Contact dermatitis is a skin reaction caused by your dog coming into contact with a chemical that is an irritant. It [more...]

natural skin moisturizers | evolving well
The cooler months spell dry skin for me that can often lead to itchy alligator patches if I’m not careful. I used to spend lots of money on all sorts of fancy lotions and even resort to the dermatologist and her array of medical-grade lotions to nourish my poor skin back to supple health. Then my sister Nicole turned me on to two natural oils for my skin- sesame seed oil and jojoba oil. WAIT! Hold the phone…did I just suggest putting oil on your skin?!?! Yes. And this is [more...]
