Our Chow Chow dog's eyelids were scratching his eyes, so we had him examined by an animal eye care specialist who recommended surgery. First we made sure his heart could handle general anesthesia so he received an EKG from his regular vet and a clean bill of health. Then he got a doggy face lift! His face was drooping and his eyelids were scratching his eyes so the cure was to remove the excess droopy eyelid and and move the skin up. this is a common condition in chow chows as they age.
