peaceful parenting: Baby Dies from Circumcision Surgery Blood Loss ...

I am utterly broken to learn that we have lost yet another baby, Joshua, to the perils of circumcision surgery. There is so much I'd like to say at this moment, and yet my grieving heart needs time to be still, my head needs time to refocus, lest I write many things that will not benefit the fight for the lives of future babies to come. I've cried often for Joshua's struggle, and honestly, cannot imagine the pain of loosing a child. I am devastated that somehow, someone could not have reached Shane and Jill Haskins (Joshua's parents) a mere 24 hours ago. I am appalled that any physician with [more...]

One of 40 million Americans with no health insurance, the part-time cashier who had never been outside the United States became a “medical tourist” to a hospital with a strange-sounding name in the Thai capital, Bangkok, a city she knew nothing about. “When we think of Asia, we think of run-down huts, poverty and disease,” said Flowers, 47. Few places could dispel that image more forcefully than Bumrungrad International, a luxurious hospital with a Starbucks in the lobby and an Italian restaurant upstairs. Much of this rapid growth is due to advances in technology that have made plastic surgery techniques both safer and more affordable, as well as cutting down on recovery time. Another factor is the prevalence in our society of people who are not satisfied with the way they look, with one survey showing that 56 percent of women in the USA are dissatisfied with their body image. In reality, although, they could be extra occupied with your money than in your happiness. Sad to say, there are a number of unscrupulous surgeons who will undertake an operation that is unnecessary, has little chance of success, or is dangerous – as long as someone foots the bill. There are also lengthy-term considerations to assume about. For example, what appears to be like terrible to you when you’re 16 may [more...]

Is Cosmetic Surgery Right For You?

For many of us, we go through most of our lives paying minimal attention to our skin. Sure, we moisturize and hopefully use our SPF30 on a regular basis but pamperingour skin on a daily basis is not practical for most people. Then one day we wake up and notice that the face we've paid little attention to over the years has just started looking a little worn. We might begin to see a few morenoticeable lines or we might look a little tired with bags under our eyes. Our eyelids may look a bit droopier and our cheeks might sag a little more than they use to. Ten to twenty years ago there weren't [more...]
