On this particular car I decided to experiment a bit with the paint and go for more of an OEM style finish.  My paint guy hooked me up with this cool black paint that when dry, perfectly replicates the factory wrinkle finish.  I sprayed the whole cover with primer beforehand. This is an  up close shot so you can get an idea of the textured surface. You will notice that all the lettering on the valve cover has been painted over.  At the factory this would have been placed in a mill and resurfaced but you can do the same thing with a sanding block or block of wood wrapped in sandpaper.  [more...]

It works better than the Downy stuff, which is hard to find anyway, and it's an aerosol, which makes spraying it on easier. I have to wear those wrinkle loving Lands End cotton shirts at work and all I do is take out of the dryer, spray on, and pull the dryer wrinkles out.
